Deutsche Bank has been named the Corporate Trust Provider of the Year in Europe, Africa, North America and Latin America by IJGlobal in its 2020 awards
Winners are selected based on judging criteria that involves an evaluation of submissions by the Journal’s editorial team and industry experts. “This is quite an achievement for Deutsche Bank, winning in four regions,” said Angus Leslie-Melville, Editorial Director, IJGlobal. “To the best of my knowledge, our awards are the most rigorously reviewed in the global infrastructure and energy space. IJGlobal awards are judged by experienced professionals with many years’ experience of closing deals in these sectors. So to win one award is an achievement to be celebrated. To win more than one award is truly exceptional. Well done, Deutsche Bank.”
Jose Sicilia, Global Head of Trust & Agency Services, Corporate Bank Deutsche Bank, said: “We are thrilled to have won these awards from this prestigious industry title. Our Corporate Trust team has enjoyed much industry success in recent years, having scooped the Global Corporate Trust Provider of the Decade award from Infrastructure Investor magazine in 2019, the Provider of the Year award from the same title for 2020, and the Corporate Trust Provider of the Year for Europe, Africa, and North America from IJGlobal in its 2019 awards. With the addition of Latin America in 2020, our success demonstrates how participants and influencers in the industry continue to recognise our expertise and market-leading capabilities across multiple regions in what has been a challenging year for all.”
Deutsche Bank’s Trust & Agency Services business continues to grow its global portfolio, providing a comprehensive suite of services to infrastructure transactions across many sectors and regions. In 2020, despite the headwinds caused by Covid-19, the Corporate Trust team seamlessly supported project and infrastructure financing and corporate debt transactions across the energy and infrastructure sectors and serviced clients and projects in 12 different countries across the Americas, EMEA and APAC.
Many of the financings were landmark deals spanning diverse asset classes including solar, wind energy and hydroelectric projects; water desalination plants; public schools, stadiums and telecom, with an added focus on sustainable financing. The team notably provided agency services to North America’s first sustainability-linked bond (SLB) issuance, a major European off-shore wind green bond refinancing, and Africa’s first export credit agency (ECA)-backed hybrid corporate loan.
Globally, Corporate Trust supports a growing number of investors and sponsors who are looking for cross-border projects. In 2020, the global team provided services to Europe-based investors extending their footprint in the US wind sector and the South American solar sector, to Canada-based investors going into the North European offshore wind sector, and to a Dubai-based solar developer investing in Africa.
Deutsche Bank is honoured by the trust that its clients have placed in its specialised project finance agency teams year after year. Whether it is as administrative or facility agent, trustee, collateral agent, intercreditor agent, account bank or escrow agent, the Bank’s Trust & Agency Services teams look forward to continuing to support developers, sponsors and investors as they build the infrastructure of tomorrow.
